Question:

1183. Deputy Anne Ferris asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will conduct a review of the Irish Rail ticketing system to ensure that all elderly and other vulnerable passengers who have purchased a ticket will be entitled to a seat during their journey, that all fare-paying passengers will be guaranteed a seat on inter-city journeys; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The issue raised is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) in conjunction with Iarnród Éireann and I have forwarded the Deputy's question to both for direct reply.  The Deputy should advise my private office if she does not receive a reply within ten working days.
