View answerAs the Deputy is aware, Healthy Ireland, A Framework for Improved Health and Well-being 2013-2025, is the national framework for action to improve the health and well-being of the country over the coming generation. The Framework takes a "whole of Government" and "whole of society" approach to improving health and well-being which is based on the international experience and thinking in addressing the broad social determinants of health.
Expenditure on the implementation of Healthy Ireland is primarily met from within the budget of the Department of Health. Since Healthy Ireland was launched in March 2013, expenditure has amounted to the following:

My Department in conjunction with the HSE is examining evidence based changes to the immunisation programmes. The resource implications of the introduction of any new vaccine will be considered in the context of the Estimates Process, the review of HSE vaccination services, engagement with manufacturers, and the HSE Service Planning Process. It is not possible to give detailed figures while this process is ongoing.
There is no recommendation from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) concerning the inclusion of Varicella vaccine and HPV vaccine for boys in the childhood immunisation programmes.

Deputy Billy Kelleher asked the Minister for Health his views on the recommendations of the international working group’s model for cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology for congenital heart disease for the island of Ireland; if he is committed to the recommendation for the expansion and updating of the cardiac intensive care unit capacity in Dublin to at least ten fully staffed beds; the estimated cost of this particular recommendation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
