Questions (1147)

Peter Fitzpatrick

Question:

1147. Deputy Peter Fitzpatrick asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to re-examine the proposed N52 bypass for Ardee in County Louth, particularly given that the N2 is one of the busiest routes in the country and Ardee is a traffic bottleneck at peak times; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme.  Within its annual budget, the planning, design and implementation of individual road projects, such as the Ardee Bypass, is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (formerly known as the NRA) under the Roads Acts 1993-2015 in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.

Noting the above position, I have referred the Deputy's question to TII for direct reply.  Please advise my private office if you don't receive a reply within 10 working days.
