Deputy Jonathan O'Brien asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality if the Garda Commissioner has discussed the reasons for, and outcomes of, her visit to Washington in March 2016; if she informed the Minister whom she met there; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda Commissioner that she travelled to Washington on State business in March of this year. These are matters within the operational discretion of the Commissioner and I would not consider it appropriate to seek precise details of her itinerary.
