627. Deputy Niamh Smyth asked the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources the number of staff employed in his Department's archive unit in each of the years 2010 to 2016 to date, in tabular form; his plans to expand this number; if there are protocol changes arising from changes to the National Archives Act; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My department does not operate a central Archive Unit. Each Division in my Department manages the records and data that they create. A senior official in my Department  is designated to liaise with the National Archives of Ireland on matters relating to the implementation of the National Archives Acts.
