467. Deputy Brendan Griffin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if, in the context of turf cutting, she plans to amend the 1976 Act to authorise suitable authorities to arrest or search persons; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21203/16]

Powers of search and arrest already exist in both the Wildlife Acts and in the European Communities (Birds and Natural Habitats) Regulations 2011. These powers may be exercised in a broad range of circumstances where offences are being committed.
