Deputy Brendan Griffin asked the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government if it is common practice for local authorities to tender for external legal services as they are required in cases, such as personal injury and conveyancing; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have no role in the matter referred to in the Question. Procurement of legal services is a matter for the Chief Executive of each local authority in accordance with section 159 of the Local Government Act 2001.
