I have received a number of representations from the renewable energy industry and individual project developers seeking an extension to the project development milestones set out in the REFIT terms and conditions. Under the terms and conditions of the REFIT 2 scheme, projects must be connected by end 2017. The industry has highlighted the challenges that developers face in terms of securing finance for projects under development, in addition to the time it can take to construct and connect a renewable energy project. I am currently considering an extension to the development milestones in the REFIT 2 scheme and will conclude this process in the near future.
