Aengus Ó Snodaigh

Question:

269. Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government the current process for Irish Water when a leak or issue with a water supply occurs in an area (details supplied); if Irish Water deals with the issue and repairs it or if the local authority is issued with a job number and it carries out the repairs; and if each leak in one area requires the local authority to get a different job number or, if when issues have been notified to a local authority, it can work on resolving all issues that arise until solved. Since 1 January 2014, Irish Water has statutory responsibility for all aspects of water services planning, delivery and operation at national, regional and local levels. Water supply issues are operational matters for the utility and one in which I have no function.

Irish Water has established a dedicated team to deal with representations and queries from public representatives. The team can be contacted via email at oireachtasmembers@water.ie or by telephone on a dedicated number, 1890 578 578.
