Jackie Cahill

Question:

777. Deputy Jackie Cahill asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if he will address the anomaly whereby a car being used as a taxi must be taken out of service at ten years of age despite it passing the NCT and despite the fact that the same car can then be designated as a limousine and trade commercially (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. The regulation of the small public service vehicle (SPSV) industry, including issues pertaining to vehicle standards, is a matter for the National Transport Authority (NTA) under the provisions of the Taxi Regulation Act 2013. I have therefore referred your question to the NTA for direct reply to you. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within 10 working days.

The referred reply under Standing Order 42A was forwarded to the Deputy.
