Deputy Noel Grealish asked the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government if he will meet the commitment in the review of the programme for Government to introduce legislation to give effect to new licensing arrangements in respect of large scale commercial peat extraction adopted by quarter two 2017. My Department is currently reviewing draft Regulations under the European Communities Act 1972, which will establish a new regulatory regime in respect of large-scale peat extraction.  In light of comments received during consultations with interested parties and stakeholders, I expect that these Regulations will be finalised by the end of June.
