Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment his views on the statement by the chief executive officer of Dublin City Council that he wished to take back control of waste management to introduce a publicly run tendering system; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are no proposals currently to alter the structure of the household waste market.  A Resource Opportunity – Waste Management Policy In Ireland (2012) commits to retaining the current market structure while strengthening the regulatory regime applied to household waste collection.
