1331. Deputy Margaret Murphy O'Mahony asked the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment the proportion of employees in his Department or in organisations under its remit registered disabled. [1852/18]
View answerMy Department is committed to a policy of equality of opportunity for all staff and supports the “Code of Practice for the Employment of People with Disabilities in the Civil Service” published by the Department of Finance in 2007. My Department reports each year to the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform on the number of staff who have disclosed a disability. The latest such report at the end of 2016 shows that 3.16% of staff in my Department have disclosed a disability. The report for 2017 is not yet available but current calculations indicate that the percentage remains at just over 3% of overall staffing.
The information requested in relation to the agencies under the aegis of my Department is an operational matter for each agency. The Department will request the relevant bodies to reply directly to the Deputy with the information requested in respect of their organisations.
