View answerThe requirement to return a driving licence to the licensing authority (the Road Safety Authority) on disqualification is set out in article 45(2) of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers)(Amendment) Regulations 2013, S.I. No 6 of 2013, in the case of consequential or ancillary disqualification, and article 46(2) in the case of special disqualification. The various timeframes and mechanism for the surrender of a licence or learner permit to the licensing authority are set in article 45. Enforcement of the legislation is a matter for An Garda Síochána.
