Deputy Mary Lou McDonald asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the names of the two academics appointed to the scoping group to consider the availability of data and make recommendations on a study to identify the prevalence of sexual abuse and violence here and emerging trends following his Department's recent tendering process. The two successful academics selected, following tendering, to participate in the scoping group referred to by the Deputy were Ms. Elaine Byrne (Doctoral Candidate, Dept. of Psychology, NUI Galway) and Professor Stephanie Holt (Social Studies, Trinity College Dublin).
