Deputy Charlie McConalogue asked the Minister for Education and Skills the status of the site acquisition to accommodate a campus (details supplied) in Buncrana, County Donegal; the timeline of works to ensure that this school campus is completed as soon as possible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerOfficials in my Department continue to liaise with officials in Donegal County Council in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding in relation to the acquisition of a suitable location for the proposed education campus and have identified a preferred site option. I am aware of media reports that the preferred site had been acquired by a third party however I can confirm that my Department continues to engage with the relevant landowner in respect of the proposed acquisition of that site for the campus project.
Due to commercial sensitivities relating to site acquisitions generally I am not in a position to provide further comment at this time. I am fully committed to the acquisition of a site for the school campus project which is included in my Department’s capital programme.
