Deputy Thomas Pringle asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the estimated area of peaty soils under the ownership of Coillte that has been converted to forestry; the estimated net carbon losses as a result of the practice; the remedial measures proposed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The management of the forest estate is a matter for, and the responsibility of, Coillte as a commercial State Body and the information requested is an operational matter for Coillte. I have referred the Deputy’s question to Coillte and have requested that a response should issue within 10 days.
