99. Deputy Neale Richmond asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the number of students who availed of the Erasmus programme for the 2021-2022 academic year; the number of students in Ireland who availed of the programme; the countries that they studied in; the number of students who came to Ireland on the Erasmus programme; the countries they came from; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the National Agency with responsibility for higher education Erasmus mobilities, the Higher Education Authority have advised that 2,807 outbound mobilities have taken place in the 2021 calendar year. Students travelled to the following countries; Austria; Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Spain, Greece, Finland, France, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey and the UK. The majority of outbound mobilities go to France, Germany and Spain.

During the same period, there were 3,989 inbound mobilities to Ireland. The students originated from the following countries; Austria; Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Spain, Greece, Finland, France, Hungary, Croatia, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey and the UK. The majority of inbound mobilities originate from France, Germany and Spain.
