222. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of situations in respect of which applications for the State pension (contributory) were refused during the past five years to date due to insufficient contributions; and if she will make a statement on the matter. My Department does not have complete data in respect of the information requested by the Deputy.  However, based on the data that is available, it is estimated that at least 80% of SPC applications, which have been refused over the last five years have been as a result of insufficient PRSI contributions.
