223. Deputy Bernard J. Durkan asked the Minister for Social Protection the extent to which self-employed or other contributions in respect of State pension applications to her Department in each of the past five years to date have been refused on the grounds of an insufficiency of contributions; if any consideration has been given to the awarding of pensions in such cases on a pro-rata basis in line with their actual level of contributions; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
