Deputy Catherine Connolly asked the Minister for Rural and Community Development the details of any engagement to date in 2023 between her Department and Galway County Council with regard to the transfer of the land on Inishbofin on which the airstrip is situated; the expected timeline for the transfer of the land to her Department; and if she will make a statement on the matter. View answerI have been informed by my officials that there has been correspondence between my Department and Galway County Council in relation to this issue in the past number of weeks.
I understand that Galway County Council had to address the registration of ownership and boundary matters in order to progress the transfer of the land in question on Inishbofin. I understand that a final survey is to be completed in the coming weeks, after which, the Local Authority will proceed to transfer the land to my Department.
