Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of male applicants for a gender recognition certificate to change their gender to female who had previously been convicted of sexual offences or had previously been on the sex offenders register; the number of such applications accepted or rejected; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Under the Gender Recognition Act 2015, a person who satisfies the conditions set out in that Act may apply to my Department for a Gender Recognition Certificate. The information requested by the Deputy is not available to my Department.
