Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Education if the visiting teacher for the visually impaired will be reinstated to a family in light of correspondence (details supplied); the reason for the delay in responding to this matter; and if she will make a statement on the matter. View answerMy Department provides funding to the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) for the provision of the visiting teacher service for children who are deaf/hard of hearing or blind/visually impaired.
As the management of the visiting teachers service is the responsibility of the NCSE, I have referred the matter raised by the Deputy to the NCSE to respond directly to the Deputy.
