Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn asked the Minister for Transport if an Irish citizen who passed a driving test in Ireland, held an Irish driver's licence, subsequently moved to the USA and held a licence there, before returning to Ireland, can renew the Irish licence without having to re-sit the test. A holder of an Irish driving licence can renew their licence within ten years after the licence’s expiry date without re-sitting a test.
