The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine has launched its report on the future of the tillage sector.
The committee held three days of hearings in September and October of 2017 to engage with relevant stakeholders to discuss. Further desk research was undertaken into relevant policy and literature background.
The committee undertook this research to set out the groundwork for a new tillage sector plan. The future of the tillage sector in Ireland presents a number of possible paths. These paths are explored in the report with a view to assessing their viability. This report also examines alternative diversification options as well as diversification within tillage.
