The Joint Committee on Education and Skills has published a report on the challenges facing island schools.
The committee’s investigation and report were a response to a campaign by island communities, educational representatives and other stakeholders to highlight the specific and unique challenges island schools face. Recommendations in the report include the reinstatement of the allowance for teachers in island schools, increased budgets, and changes to the scholarship scheme for island schools.
