Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh addressed Seanad Éireann at 1pm today to mark Bliain na Gaeilge.
Mr Ó Muircheartaigh discussed the use of Irish in the community, sport, the media, the arts, education and politics.
Under Seanad Éireann procedures, people from public and civic society may be invited to address the House on specific issues.
