A delegation from the Parliament of Australia, led by HE Mr. Scott Ryan, President of the Senate, visited Leinster House this week. The delegates met staff and Members of the Houses of the Oireachtas and attended public sessions of Dáil and Seanad Éireann.
A formal exchange of views was held between An Ceann Comhairle, Seán Ó Fearghaíl, TD, Cathaoirleach of Seanad Éireann, Senator Denis O’Donovan, Leas-Cheann Comhairle, Pat The Cope Gallagher, TD and HE Scott Ryan. This was followed by round table discussions with members of Oireachtas Committees. The delegates discussed parliament security Paul Conway, Superintendent, and John Flaherty, Captain of the Guard. They also met Helen Dixon, the Commissioner for Data Protection, and Sherry Perreault, head of ethics and lobbying regulation, Standards in Public Office (SIPO).
