The third meeting of the International Grand Committee on Disinformation and Fake News took place in Leinster House today.

The meeting was chaired by Hildegarde Naughton TD, Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Climate Action and Environment.

The committee discussed the behaviour and regulation of social media platforms. Witnesses before the ICG included award winning journalist and 2019 Pulitzer Prize nominee Carole Cadwalladr; Facebook’s vice president of content policy, Monika Bickert; Irish Data Protection Commissioner, Helen Dixon; and Web Foundation chief executive officer, Adrian Lovett.
