Committee to hear from leading official on public service reform

6 Mar 2012, 12:08

The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Investigations, Oversight and Petitions will meet Paul Reid, Programme Director at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform, this Wednesday afternoon 7 March 2012. He will brief the Committee on Public Service reform.

Mr Reid was recruited in October 2011 to head an office to lead and facilitate the implementation of the Government’s Public Service Reform programme.

Leas-Chathaoirleach of the Committee, Michael McCarthy TD, said: “Committee Members look forward to a detailed briefing from Mr Reid, which will set out the government’s reform agenda.

“Mr Reid makes the presentation in the context of the Committee’s proposed new role in public sector oversight. The Committee intends to provide a pathway for citizens to bring issues of concern around the delivery of public services to the heart of the Oireachtas. The meeting will explore how our Committee and the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform can work together to enhance parliamentary oversight of public services.”
This meeting will take place at 4 p.m on Wednesday 7 March, in Committee Room 3 LH 2000.
