Finance Committee to discuss non-financial corporate debt with Central Bank and CSO

7 Mar 2012, 10:11

Head of Statistics at the Central Bank, Joe McNeill, and chief statistician at the CSO, Michael Connolly, will discuss non-financial corporate debt at the meeting of the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform today, 7th March.

Committee Chairman, Alex White TD said: “We’d like to welcome Mr McNeill and Mr Connolly to the Committee to discuss matters relating to non-financial corporate debt. Today, we will have a chance to get an in-depth overview of this issue and to quantify the extent of debt to which Irish businesses are exposed. The Committee will be particularly interested to see if the data available could be ‘split’ between the indigenous Irish SME sector and the multinational sector and, then, if there was further data that explores what levels of that debt is in Irish financial institutions compared to foreign banks.

This meeting will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 7th March, in Committee Room 4, Leinster House 2000 at 4pm.
