Communications Committee to meet TG4 Chairperson Designate

9 May 2012, 17:19

The Joint Committee on Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture will tomorrow meet with Siún Ní Raghallaigh, Chairperson Designate of TG4’s Board.

Chairman of the Oireachtas Joint Committee Andrew Doyle TD says: “Under the Programme for Government, those who are being proposed for appointment as chairpersons of State boards are required to make themselves available to the appropriate Oireachtas Committee. The meeting tomorrow with Ms Ní Raghallaigh will allow the Committee discuss the approach she proposes to take as Chairperson and her views about the future contribution of TG4 as a distinct voice on the Irish media landscape.”

“The Committee does not have a blocking role in the appointment and following the discussion tomorrow, decisions will be taken by the Minister or the Government, as appropriate, to confirm Ms Ní Raghallaigh as chairperson.”

This meeting takes place on tomorrow Thursday 10 May at 10 a.m. in Committee Room 3, LH 2000. Committee proceedings can be followed live at: http://bit.ly/24YmPI
