Oireachtas Committee to meet Ulster Unionist Party Leader

6 Jun 2012, 09:05

The Joint Oireachtas Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will tomorrow meet with Mike Nesbitt MLA, Leader of the Ulster Unionist Party.

Joining the UUP Leader on what is an historically significant visit will be Basil McCrea MLA and John McCallister MLA.

Committee Chair Joanna Tuffy says: “We warmly welcome Mr Nesbitt and his UUP colleagues to the Committee.  Tomorrow’s meeting is the first such address by an Ulster Unionist Leader to an Oireachtas Committee. We look forward to a positive engagement with Mr Nesbitt and his party colleagues on a range of issues of mutual interest and concern.

“An experienced broadcaster, Mr Nesbitt served as Commissioner for Victims and Survivors between 2008 and 2010. He was previously a broadcast news journalist with BBC Radio Ulster and Ulster Television.   Mike Nesbitt was elected as Leader of the Ulster Unionist Party in March 2012.”

The meeting takes place at 11 am tomorrow Thursday 7 June in Committee Room 4, LH 2000.
