Leinster House summer schedule for Walk-Up tours announced

23 Jul 2012, 11:31

The Oireachtas Joint sub-Committee on Administration has announced a daily schedule of tours of Leinster House during the Dáil recess.

From today until the Dáil resumes on 18 September, members of the public and visitors to Ireland will be able to avail of Walk-Up tours of Leinster House each weekday at 10.30 am and 2.30 pm.

Sub-Committee Chairman, Joe Carey TD commented:  \" Ireland has a rich parliamentary heritage that spans over ninety years and people taking this tour will experience some of that history and tradition as they walk through the iconic Leinster House building. Taking in the Dáil, Seanad and Committee Room public galleries, the tours offer a valuable insight into how our parliament works.

“I believe that it is vitally important for our democracy that the Irish public know and understand the role and functions of their parliament. We also look forward to welcoming to Leinster House those living outside the State during the busy holiday season.”

Tours are free and available on Mondays to Fridays at 10.30 am and 2.30 pm.  The tour entrance point is via the Kildare Street gate and visitors should arrive 15 minutes before the start of the tour.  The duration of the tour is 50 minutes approximately.  View more information about touring Leinster House.
