Finance Committee to discuss credit union bill with ILCU

Committee Chairman Alex White TD commented: “Our meeting tomorrow with the Irish League of Credit Unions is our first engagement with stakeholders on the scheme of the Bill which was published in June. It will provide the ILCU with an opportunity to comment on the proposals contained in the draft general scheme of the bill ahead of its formal drafting. The aim of the bill is to strengthen the regulatory framework for credit unions and to provide a basis for a restructuring of the sector over time. The committee will play an important role in getting the views of interested stakeholders and our meetings will enable us to provide meaningful input into the legislation, make observations and suggestions before the bill is published in full.”

This meeting will start in Committee Room 4, Leinster House at 2.30pm on Wednesday, 19th September.
