At its meeting today, the Joint Committee on Health and Children recorded a message of sympathy with Savita Halappanavar's family, following her death at Galway University Hospital on 28 October.

Chairman of the Committee Jerry Buttimer TD says: \"Our Committee welcomes the announcement by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny in the Dáil earlier today to revise the membership of the HSE inquiry team, established to investigate the circumstances surrounding Ms Halappanavar's tragic death. In the interests of transparency and public trust, our Committee agrees that the inquiry team should comprise doctors with no connection to Galway University Hospital .\"
