Agriculture Committee to continue consideration Animal Health and Welfare Bill 2012

21 Nov 2012, 17:00

The Select Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will meet with Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Simon Coveney TD tomorrow to further consider the Animal Health Bill 2012.

21 November 2012

Chairman of the Committee Andrew Doyle TD says: “The prosperity of the food industry, worth up to €10 billion annually, is directly related to the safety of the food we are producing. Indeed, animal health, animal welfare and farm profitability are fundamentally interlinked and of equal importance.

“Tomorrow’s meeting will allow us an opportunity to further consider the Animal Health and Welfare Bill, which is at the third stage of the five-stage legislative process. Earlier in the month, on 8 November, we met with Minister Coveney for detailed discussion on the Bill. Tomorrow our Committee will have an opportunity to continue our careful consideration of this important Bill.”

The meeting will take place tomorrow Thursday 22 November in Committee Room 4, LH 2000 at 11:30 am.

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
