In a meeting which has been rescheduled from last week, the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform will discuss progress on the implementation of the Government’s Public Service Reform Plan when it meets with the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin, TD tomorrow, Thursday, 22nd November, 2012.
Ciarán Lynch, TD, Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, said: “The Government launched its Public Service Reform Plan in November 2011. After a year, it is now timely and opportune to examine the progress that has been made to date in implementing the plan.
“We are looking forward to this rescheduled meeting with the Minister and will be keen to discuss with him what developments have been made in a number of areas such as: shared services in the Civil Service for HR, pensions, payroll, finance and banking; the eGovernment Strategy; plans for focusing staff on priority areas; framework agreements for commonly produced goods and services, which are expected to yield significant savings across the Public Service; and the programme of political and legislative reform aimed at enhancing openness, transparency and accountability.
“It will also be an opportunity for Members to consider the Minister’s recent announcement that the Government is seeking to save a further €1 billion over the next three years in a new public sector deal on reform and productivity.”
The meeting will start in Committee Room 4, Leinster House tomorrow, Thursday, 22nd November at 9.30m.
