You are invited to attend, or send a representative, to the launch of a report by the Seanad Public Consultation Committee on how policy can drive change in lifestyle which, in turn, reduces cancer rates. It takes place on Wednesday, 6 February at 12 noon in the A/V Room of Leinster House.

Changes in lifestyle can prevent approximately one third of cancers and the Seanad Consultation Committee invited submissions and held a public hearing on the topic in 2012.

Event: Launch of Report on ‘Report on Changes in Lifestyle can prevent approximately one third of Cancers. How does Government and society respond to this challenge?’ by the Seanad Public Consultation Committee

Location: A/V Room, Leinster House

Date: Wednesday, 6 February 2013

Time: 12 noon

Committee Chairman Senator Denis O’Donovan along with other Members will be in attendance and available for questions.

Senator O’Donovan says: “Ireland has some of the highest cancer rates in the world. Last year, our Committee invited written submissions from interested groups and individuals on how Government and society respond to this challenge. We also held a public hearing in the Seanad Chamber. This report reflects the collective wisdom of key stakeholders and leading international experts in the area who contributed to this important consultation. The report offers concise, practical and achievable recommendations centred around curbing smoking, obesity and alcohol abuse, which we hope will feed into public policy on the matter.”

Copies will be available at the launch and the report will be available online following the event.
