The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade will resume its hearings into the role and contribution of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to trade promotion and economic recovery when it meets with representatives of Chambers Ireland tomorrow, Wednesday, 13th February 2013.
Committee Chairman, Pat Breen TD said: “As a business organisation that provides a range of services to businesses to develop and strengthen international trade links and trade in overseas markets, Chambers Ireland is well-placed to give a perspective on how the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is contributing, and can contribute, to trade promotion and economic recovery.
“We are keen to hear from Chambers Ireland representatives on the role they see the Department and Irish embassies playing in managing, organising and promoting international trade and how they may coordinate their efforts with business representative organisations.
“This is the latest in a series of meetings the Joint Committee is holding with Departmental officers, representatives of State Agencies, business networks and private sector organisations to gather information on how trade promotion is being coordinated, the Department’s role in that work and how effective that coordination is. We will also review the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s high-level strategies in the economic/trade promotion area.”
The meeting will start in Committee Room 1, Leinster House at 2.30 pm on Wednesday, 13th February 2013.
