Seanad Committee to discuss Social Entrepreneurship with leading practitioners

The Seanad Public Consultation Committee is this Thursday hosting a session on social entrepreneurship with leading figures in the field. Representatives from Ashoka Ireland, Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, the One Foundation and Women for Election will address the topic \"Making change in Ireland through social entrepreneurship\".

Social entrepreneurs address societal and environmental challenges through the use of entrepreneurial principles.

Committee Chairman Senator Denis O'Donovan says: \"Our Committee looks forward to engaging with leading practitioners on the rising movement of social entrepreneurship. This Committee is tasked with strengthening dialogue between Seanad Éireann and members of the public on a wide range of subjects in the area of public policy. This week's session is a valuable opportunity to engage with social entrepreneurs on their work in developing innovative solutions to address the entrenched challenges we face as a nation.\"

The meeting commences at 12 noon this Thursday 21 February in the Seanad chamber. Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

The Committee was established in September 2011 to strengthen dialogue between Seanad Éireann and the public on a wide range of subjects in the area of public policy. View more.
