The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Transport and Communications will tomorrow meet with Christoph Mueller, Chairman Designate of An Post. The discussions are likely to draw on a recent Committee report on sustaining the post office network.

Committee Chairman Tom Hayes TD says: \"Under the Programme for Government, those who are being proposed for appointment as chairpersons of State boards are required to make themselves available to the appropriate Oireachtas Committee. Tomorrow’s meeting is a welcome opportunity for our Committee to engage with the Chairman Designate of An Post on his vision for the company. He will have to opportunity to outline what he sees as the priorities and challenges for An Post in the immediate period ahead and into the future.
“Our Committee recently published a detailed report on the sustainability of the post office network, which will inform our discussions with Mr Mueller. In the report, we argued that the post office is about much more than the services it provides and called for an enhanced role for the post office network in the delivery of government services.”
The Committee meeting takes place tomorrow Wednesday 1 May at 9:30 am in Committee Room 4. Proceedings be viewed online via the following link.
