PAC to examine C&AG report into Dublin Docklands Development Authority

1 May 2013, 13:53

The Committee of Public Accounts will examine the C&AG Report on the Dublin Docklands Development Authority when it meets with John Tierney, Chairman, Dublin Docklands Development Authority and officials from the Departments of Environment, Community and Local Government and of Public Expenditure and Reform tomorrow, Thursday, 2nd May 2013.

Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD said: “The Dublin Docklands Development Authority is before the Committee this week along with the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government. The Authority was last before the Committee on 14th June 2012 when the then acting CEO attended.

“The Committee was precluded from continuing its examination since the last meeting due to a legal case involving the Authority in the courts but that case is now concluded, so hearings can resume and we will continue the Committee’s examination of the C&AG Report on the Authority.

“The central theme of this week’s meeting is the Department of Environment’s oversight function before, during and after the Glass Bottle site acquisition and, in particular, the sanction given by the Department to increase the Authority’s borrowing limit and permission to enter a joint venture.

“The Authority is now in the process of being wound down and so questions around progress on this could be asked.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 1 at 10am tomorrow, Thursday, 2nd May 2013.
