Jobs Committee to mark cloud computing week

The Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will mark cloud computing week on Tuesday, 7th May 2013 when it meets with representatives from Microsoft to discuss the role and potential of Cloud Computing in public sector transformation and job creation.

Chairman of the Committee Deputy Damien English said: “Cloud computing, which lets you use files and applications online, is growing rapidly globally and in Ireland. Information technology research and advisory company Gartner has forecast the public cloud services market to grow 18.5% in 2013 to $131 billion worldwide. On Tuesday, to mark cloud computing week, we will have a chance to hear from Microsoft on how the public sector can embrace and adopt cloud computing and how it can help the public sector innovate, transform and cut costs.”

This meeting will follow the discussions the Committee will have with Food and Drink Industry Ireland in Committee Room 2, Leinster House at 1.30pm on Tuesday 7th May 2013.
