8 May 2013, 12:58
The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine tomorrow continues its discussions on the relationship between supermarkets and primary and secondary food producers when it meets with representatives from Lidl.
8 May 2013
The debate will centre on the following topics:
- The proposed Code of Conduct for the grocery goods sector;
- Pricing and impact on primary and secondary suppliers;
- Support for local produce; and
- Labelling
Chairman of the Committee Andrew Doyle TD says: “Tomorrow's meeting is the fifth in a series that the Committee is hosting with retailers and their representative organisations, as well as with the representatives of farmers and producers. As a discounter with a growing market share in Ireland, discussions with Lidl representatives are expected to touch on the perceived lack of a level playing pitch for smaller players in the supply chain. The views expressed tomorrow afternoon will flow into a report that the Committee intends to publish on the matter.”
The meeting takes place at 9:30 am tomorrow 9 May 2013 in Committee Room 4, LH 2000.
Committee proceedings can be followed live here.
