Jobs Committee to discuss operations of Local Enterprise Offices

13 May 2013, 11:48

The operation of Local Enterprise Offices will be examined by the Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation tomorrow, Tuesday 14th May 2013 when it meets with representatives of the Association of County and City Councils.

Chairman of the Committee Deputy Damien English said: “A network of Local Enterprise Offices will replace the County and City Enterprise Boards (CEBs) which were established in 1993. The Local Enterprise Offices, which will be established in each local authority, will carry out the combined work of the CEBs and the Business Support Units of the local authorities and will provide a range of supports and services to local micro enterprises. We’re looking forward to our meeting with the Association of County and City Councils to discuss the operation of the new Local Enterprise Offices, consider the roles and functions of the offices, the services they will provide and how they will be governed and funded.”

This meeting starts in Committee Room 2, Leinster House at 1.30pm on Tuesday 14th May 2013. Before the Committee meets with the Association of County and City Councils, it will carry out scrutiny of COM (2013)161, a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Regulation (EC) No 207/2009 on the Community trade mark; and COM (2013)162, a proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council to approximate the laws of the Member States relating to trade marks.
