EU Affairs Committee to meet Amnesty International representatives

The Oireachtas Joint Committee on EU Affairs tomorrow meets with representatives from Amnesty International Ireland who will outline their recommendations to the Irish EU Presidency.

Chairman of the Committee Dominic Hannigan TD says: “Ireland has a proud record in advancing human rights internationally and we look forward to hearing from Amnesty International on what they see as the the priorities of the Irish Presidency in the field. Colm O'Gorman, Executive Director, and Dr Nicolas J Berger, Director, are expected to present a review what has been achieved in the area of human rights since Ireland assumed the Presidency in January, and make some suggestions for the remainder of the tenure up to the end of June.\"

The meeting with Amnesty representatives commences at 2pm tomorrow 16 May in Committee Room 2, LH 2000. Follow this Committee live.
