The Oireachtas Joint Committee on EU Affairs tomorrow meets with representatives from the European Movement Ireland to consider the its Accountability Report 2012.

The Report measures a number key indicators tracking Ireland’s engagement with the EU at a number of different levels and, where relevant, outlines where improvements can be made.
Chairman of the Committee Dominic Hannigan TD says: “The European Movement Ireland (EMI) is an independent, not-for-profit, membership-based organisation working to develop the connection between Ireland and Europe. We will have an opportunity to explore the EMI’s Accountability Report 2012, which has been described as a scorecard on key areas of Ireland’s engagement with European Union.”
“The report measures input of the Irish Government in Commission Consultations, European Parliament engagement by MEPs and attendance and performance by cabinet members at European Council and Council of Ministers meetings. It also measures Oireachtas engagement and includes a commentary on the work of our Committee, as well as the scrutiny of EU legislation by sectoral Oireachtas Committees. We look forward to engaging with EMI representatives on this work, which includes analysis of how the Oireachtas engages on EU issues.”
The meeting with EMI representatives commences at 2pm tomorrow 21 May in Committee Room 1, LH 2000. Watch live.
