The Committee on Justice, Defence and Equality will meet with nominees for Members Designate of the Irish Human Rights Equality Commission at its meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, 22nd May 2013.
Committee Chairman David Stanton, TD, said: “Our Committee played an important role in considering the Heads of the Bill which replaced the Equality Authority and the Human Rights Commission with a new Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission when we undertook a focussed consultation process with civil society and interested parties on its content.
Tomorrow will be our first opportunity to engage with nominees for Members Designate of the Commission where they will have an opportunity to outline what they see as the priorities and challenges for Commission in the immediate period ahead and into the future. Committee members will have a chance to raise any issues they may have on the Commission.”
This Committee will meet in Committee Room 2 at 10am tomorrow, Wednesday, 22nd May 2013.
In the afternoon Justice Minister Alan Shatter TD will attend a meeting of the Committee for the Committee stage of the Land and Conveyancing Law Reform Bill 2013.
The Bill provides that certain statutory provisions apply to mortgages of a particular class notwithstanding the repeal and amendment of those statutory provisions by the Land and Conveyancing Law Reform Act 2009, to provide for the adjournment of legal proceedings in certain cases and to provide for related matters
Deputy Stanton said: “Tomorrow, the Bill will receive consideration and members will have the opportunity to propose and discuss any amendments to the legislation as published.”
This meeting will start at 2pm in Committee Room 2.
