Select sub-Committee to consider Revised Estimates for Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport

24 Jun 2013, 15:35

Minister of State Alan Kelly TD will tomorrow afternoon attend a meeting of the Select Sub-Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport. The meeting will allow sub-Committee members to question Minister Kelly, as Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport with special responsibility for Public and Commuter Transport, on the total estimated expenditure for 2013 and the priority areas for the Department.

Select Sub-Committee Vice-Chairman John O'Mahony TD says: “Minister of State Kelly's presence at tomorrow’s meeting will allow the sub-Committee to consider the 2013 Revised Estimates for Public Services for the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, along with the outcomes and effectiveness of the expenditure concerned.   These estimates outline the overall proposed expenditure by the Department and give information on the sectors in which the money will be spent. The meeting forms part of on-going efforts to strengthen the role of Dáil Éireann and its Select Committees in holding Ministers and their Departments to account for the proposed allocation of public funds. ”

The meeting takes place tomorrow 24 June at 2:30 pm in Committee Room 1. Committee proceedings can be followed live at: http://www.oireachtas.ie/parliament/watchlisten/
